The partial update to visible PageRank that went out a few days ago was primarily regarding PageRank selling and the forward links of sites. So paid links that pass PageRank would affect our opinion of a site. Going forward, I expect that Google will be looking at additional sites that appear to be buying or selling PageRank.

La mise à jour partielle du PageRank affiché qui a eu lieu il y a quelques jours concernait particulièrement la vente de PageRank et de liens. Les liens achetés qui passent du PageRank sont susceptibles d’affecter notre opinion d’un site. Je m’attends à ce que Google recherche plus encore de sites qui achètent ou vendent ouvertement du PageRank.

La boucle est bouclée. Matt Cutts a daigné poser ses gadgets et quitter des yeux son compte Amazon pour nous honorer d’un de ses éclaircissements empreints de précaution et de demi-mots comme il en a l’habitude.

Profitons de l’occasion non pas pour relancer le débat dont on a largement fait le tour ces derniers mois, mais pour décortiquer un peu ses dires.

1. “Partial Update”

Sous-entendu: il n’y a pas eu d’export global du PageRank ?

2. “Visible PageRank”

Serait-ce donc bien le PageRank affiché (celui de la ToolBar Google, pas celui qui fait partie de l’algo), et seulement lui qui est affecté?
Les sites affectés n’ont effectivement pas perdu en positionnement dans les SERPs: ça confirmerait assez bien le fait qu’il faut dissocier fortement “les deux PageRanks”, et éviter de considérer cette petite barre verte comme un indicateur universel.

3. “Paid links that pass PageRank”

Matt Cutts est un grand pote du rel=”nofollow”.
Doit-on y voir un message du type suivant: “Faites des liens pour partager ou envoyer des visiteurs, mais pas à vocation unique de manipulation des résultats” ?

Je suis d’accord avec le principe: faisons des liens pour nos visiteurs, pas pour les moteurs.
De là à barder nos partenariats de rel=”nofollow”, il ne faudrait pas pousser non plus, Mr Cutts.

4. “I expect that Google will be looking at additional sites that appear to be buying or selling PageRank”

Nous l’espérons tous (sauf certains bien sûr).
Attention néanmoins de bien faire la part des choses, entre liens “achetés” et liens “amicaux”, voire encore à ne pas considérer comme achetés les “courtesy links” & “copyright links”.

NB: J’ai mis les liens sortants en rel=”nofollow”, voudrais pas qu’on croie que Matt Cutts me les ait acheté…
